These Are The Weapons That China And Taiwan Would Use In A War

National Interest: These are the 9 Killer Weapons China and Taiwan Would Use in a War

After Donald Trump’s now historic call with the President of Taiwan, it seems relations between Beijing and Taipei are now back as one the most important international issues of the day.

And so it should be.

With China and Taiwan seeing a spike in tensions after years of relative calm—with the Asia-Pacific region already swimming in its own sea of troubles thanks to tensions in the South and East China Seas—there is once again the danger of a crisis that could bring Washington and Beijing to blows. And as both nations are armed with nuclear weapons, the stakes could not get any higher.

But what would happen if Taipei and Beijing actually ended up in some sort of conflict? What would be the military systems and strategies used? What weapons in China's arsenal would Taiwan fear the most? What would Beijing fear? And most importantly: who would win?

WNU Editor: If there is no outside interference China would win the war. But the cost of the conflict .... as well as the political and economic fallout .... would be enormous.

WNU,

Your editor comment is spot on. While China would win a war against Tawain, the costs would be enormous. This likely explains why they haven't launched the attack.

Additionally, as I understand it, Tawain has trade agreements with China that are very valuable to China. I've been advocating this same sort of policy for America for about 20 years.

Essentially Russia and China are the world's dominant powers. This can't be changed. Adjust and act accordingly. Look for ways to add value to them. Adjust defenses to such a position that they'd view an attack to costly. This combined with the value added to them perhaps not only would they not attack us they may even defend us!! To have earth's most powerful nations backing us up would be a HUGE benefit.

If the ROC which is half the size of the R. of Ireland can deter China without even having nuclear weapons then China is not a "dominant world power"
